Passive Seismic Behaviour

Passive seismic exploration methodology, in particular the infrasonic passive seismic spectroscopy and tomography techniques use spectroscopic and time analysis of the natural seismic background acquired passively using VBB superficial, borehole or forehole seismometers.PassiveExplorationMay2015-2

Passive methods are applied to study, detect and monitor hydrocarbon reservoirs during exploration operations by recording and analyzing the low-frequency background noise between 0.5-20 Hz and the time domain in order to observe natural microseismic events.

Measurements and results can be integrated with other geophysical data to provide information, which can be used to reduce the uncertainty level for exploration drilling and field development decisions.
